giro d’italia 2011

Giro Reflections

Many of you know my good mate Veeral Patel. He’s been contributing his photography to this blog since the day it began and we’ve watched him progress throughout the years. Not long ago he couldn’t even get a break when applying for accreditation to photograph local Cyclesport Victoria races. Now, through his perseverance, hard work, […]

Giro d’Italia Stage 21, è Finita!

It’s often said that the Giro is the world’s most spectacular race, and the Tour is the most important. I didn’t stay awake every single night until 1am to watch the Giro like I would with the Tour, but I still get excited to wake up every morning rushing to my computer to see what […]

Giro d’Italia Stage 20, Colle delle Finestre

It wasn’t the battle I was hoping for last night, but watching the race go over the Colle delle Finestre was awesome. The descent down to Sestriere looked phenomenal. Contador just sat in barely even breathing while Nibali probably lost his race for second.

Giro d’Italia, Stage 19…A Gift From Contador

Paolo Tiralongo has been racing professionally for 12 years and has never won a race. He’s had some strong showings and podiums, but never a win. He actually won the mountains classification at the Tour Down Under back in 2004, but no a stage win.

I’ll spare you my insightful commentary about last night’s stage and leave you with only the photos. Again, I’ll be undergoing site upgrades later today so thank you for your patience if you experience downtime. I’m gonna be up to my eyeballs in html, css, php, abcdefg, a bunch of other acronyms and about 6 […]

Giro d’Italia, Stage 17

Last night’s stage wasn’t one I was willing to stay up late to watch since there are some big evenings ahead, but judging by the photos and video it looked fairly good. I always love seeing a breakaway stick by only a few seconds and watching a bunch of non-sprinters duke it out over not […]

Giro d’Italia Stage 15

What an action packed weekend of the Giro! Three big tough days in the Dolomites and over 7.5 hrs in the saddle for the the riders last night (Matty Wilson in the “Magna Noir” toughed the stage out for 8:12hrs!). Could you imagine doing that day after day? Unfortunately Brett Lancaster DNF’d along with 5 […]

Giro d’Italia Stage 14 - Zoncolan!!!

Short write-up coming soon…For now, check out all the great photos from last night’s phenomenal stage!

Giro d’Italia Stage 12 - Who Said The Giro Was Boring?

So I eat my words from yesterday. Cavendish wins an epic stage with the help of Renshaw’s legendary leadout and we get to see Robbie Hunter brawl with Sacha Modolo. We all know Hunter is a bad-ass mofo who grew up in the hood of Johannesburg so I have no doubt who would come out […]

Giro d’Italia Stage 11

Is it just me or are the rest of you starting to watch the Giro with a little bit of disinterest? Perhaps it’s because Contador already has this race wrapped up and the most exciting news headline today was The Giro d’Italia could be won in the hotel (what exactly are you going to be […]
