I do not think it is a good thing for cycling to have an infamously unrepentant steroid abuser like Barry Bonds being publicly involved with any team, let alone one positioning itself as a development project.

I hope the team owner has the strength of character to turn down the money, or at least take a pragmatic approach of protecting the reputation of the riders by requesting that it be funnelled through a company or a foundation in which he has no managerial involvement.

Thank you for sharing the bit about Eva Lechner. It’s not mentioned though, that she’s been regularly in the top ten for years now, always delivering, even in hard times where she had to find new sponsors etc. To me, that’s much more impressive than her national titles in a not very Mountainbike-for-women-friendly country with not too much competition (though there are several very strong guns out there in the meantime).

It’s very unusual in Europe to talk about faith so openly, so I admire that, too, as it seems to be the primary source of constant motivation for her. That’s impressive!

PS: Watch the live-coverings of MTB XC Worldcup races to see her firing it all up. It’s awesome to see these women (as well as men) doing such a wonderful job technically and endurance-strength-wise.
