The ‘pro’ tip about almost bonking during a stage just so you can allegedly overload on muscle glycogen in later days just goes to show why the european cyclists are losing their edge on the antipodean countries. Bettini shows his talent shines through in his wins even with his silly nutrition ‘tips’. The old school training and nutrition is still strong in the old world.

  The comment was made in relation to a one day race, not a GT, and it is exactly the way everyone carbo-loaded in those days, not just cycling but all other endurance sports as well.
  When you can claim 2 worlds, an Olympic gold and about 4 Monuments then it will be proven you know better.
