Bradley Wiggins on Graham Norton Show

Tour de France winner (2012) and Olympic gold medalist Bradley Wiggins was on the New Year’s Eve edition of the Graham Norton Show.

Wiggins, alongside Hollywood stars Liam Neeson, Anna Kendrick and Eddie Redmayne spoke lightheartedly about his family life , how to urinate on the bike during a race, his upcoming career goals, and his disappointment about how winning the Tour de France felt at the time.

Much to the embarrassment of his wife Catherine, he spoke about how she carries his bags when he’s travelling.

“Well my wife’s a bit of a panel beater. She’s a strong girl,” he said.

“She sort of clean and jerks 200 kilos, she’s a good girl.”

Wiggins also told of his plans to make his last road race appearance at Paris-Roubaix before switching to the track for Rio 2016.

Have to say; and I qualify it by confessing to being a pom; what a tosser, pissed and can’t even hold a conversation, seriously not respectful to the people he’s on with.
Oh, and yep, I sent him an email this morning when I viewed the show in it’s entirety. Kath was embarrassed by his behaviour, again!

  I guess any perception has cultural and contextual lenses. I really enjoyed it and him, but I can understand how others, with different expectations, priorities, values etc could not like it.

His poor wife is gonna give him what for and all because he got made a fool of on tv. His actions on here are NOT the same bloke on the throne at the Olympics. What are the public thinking now? Arse!
What was he there for, anyway? No book to push, anything he has done was 14months ago (and on the end of the sofa, always a bad sign) he was there primarily as joke fodder for Norton. He, like all successful cyclists need coaching for this equally as much as increasing VO2. Luckily he was cut enough not to think something important, like his stance on helmets or drugs. Now THAT would have been a disaster for cycling.

How exactly is this a disaster for cycling? It’s good to see the “gods” of our sport in a more human level. Albeit, he is a celebrity, I quite enjoy seeing him in a more personal, less press-room constrained environment. I like the guy. I always have, so I’m a bit partial but I’d rather see Wiggo three-sheets into the wind on an entertainment program than listen to any scripted response in a press-box from any of the other top contenders of our sport.

One of the truly great Olympians and and a top bloke as well. Too bad he didn’t bring his guitar along. He has a future on the telly after Rio, I’d say.
