Giro d’Italia - Inside Line - Stage 8 Time Trial

The first Giro d’Italia time trial was won by Movistar’s Alex Dowsett, who spoke to GCN about his TT plans ahead of the race.

Ahead of stage 8, GCN also spoke to team Garmin-SHARP’s David Millar and Astana’s Fredrik Kessiakoff who told GCN how they approach a time trial, and how the discipline has changed over time with the use of race radios.

GCN got some great insight into how a time trial works, and what makes a good TT rider. Clearly Alex Dowsett’s plan to just ride really fast paid off, because he finished 10 seconds ahead of TT favourite Bradley Wiggins - though Wiggins suffered the misfortune of an early puncture.
