The Tour of Tasmania was held last week and is one of Australia's premier bike races. It's an excellent event for our domestic riders to prepare for this week's Sun Tour. It also attracts international interest and this year was host to the Russion National Team, coached by former AIS road coach Heiko Salzwedel.
Held over an extremely tough 542.7 kilometres spread across the Tasmania’s stunning landscapes, it is the ninth event on the National Road Series Calendar. Photographer Mark Gunter was there to catch the action and bring it back to us.
Gensys Weath Advisors’ Nathan Haas fought for the overall win but Jayco-2XU and V Australia didn’t make it easy for him. We’ll see many of these teams testing themselves against some of the World’s best at the Sun Tour this week. For most of the world the race season is winding down. For us here in Australia, things are just beginning to heat up!
