Good luck to her - anyone attempting the hour seriously deserves respect. I can’t even think of the pain they must go through.

Also great whenever someone eligible for para-sports goes out and puts in performances of note in the open equivalent.

I remember seeing a video from a friend who was involved with junior-level swimming in Adelaide when Matt Cowdrey was a teenager at his first interstate meet, the murmurs and trying-not-to-stare looks as he walked out were swiftly followed by dropped jaws (and laughter from the South Australians) once he was in the pool.

Longo’s fall from grace still hurts. Such a shame.

      What fall from grace ?

Her husband/coach was linked to EPO/PEDs in 2011 casting a shadow over her performance. It may have been due to her use of said PEDs although her results are still considered good since there is no proof she used the drugs.

Results not having been officially withdrawn doesn’t mean they are still perceived as being good.

If Marco Pantani had not died in tragic circumstances, his successes would surely have been officially wiped out by now and his reputation thoroughly trashed.

I’m hoping she’ll do it (pretty sure she will). She’s a hell of an athlete even if she doesn’t have the cycling palmares that you might expect (good reason to start the rush if there is one on the women’s side too).
