Highlights from the Sparkassen Giro World Cup

There were 23 teams and 128 riders at the start of the Sparkassen Giro, a race that was created in 2001. This year marks the first time it is categorised as a World Cup race. Under partly cloudy skies but with temperatures up to 27 degrees, the peloton faced eight 15.5 kilometre laps making it 124 kilometres in total.
