Descending Passo Fedaia

By Ben English on May 22, 2013

My mate and I recently did a bit of riding around Italy. The standout was our day in the Dolomites. We had an epic 150+km day all planned but we both were sick leading up to the trip so changed plans to a shorter 70km loop that took in two climbs - the Passo di Fedaia and the legendary Passo Pordoi (with it's 28 hairpins and memorial to Fausto Coppi at the summit). We were lucky with the weather too - a week later and the Giro was snowed out of the Dolomites. While the climbing was amazing the descending was also pretty fun. This shot is of my mate descending the back (front?) of Passo Fedaia which is 8.6km at 9.2%. Needless to say it was a super quick descent and we flew by plenty of riders digging into their suitcase of courage on the climb (with a few walking their bikes up). The Dolomites is such an amazing place to ride your bike and should be on all cyclists bucket list.
