The Blanco Pro Cycling Team has announced that it will be renamed the Belkin Pro Cycling Team, and that the team will begin competing under its new name and logo at the 2013 Tour de France.

“With 19 victories this year and a new title sponsor, 2013 is shaping up to be a dream season for our team,” said Richard Plugge, general manager of Belkin Pro Cycling. “As a company, Belkin shares our values and global ambitions, so we are very excited to have them on board as our sponsor. We look forward to two and a half years of shared successes.”

Here’s what some of the Team Belkin riders and adminstrators had to say about the team’s new title sponsor.

Richard Plugge, general manager:

“We have had a very hectic period behind us, but in Belkin we have found a tremendous new sponsor. Right from the first contact, the discussions went very well. We have shared values: we want to win as a team but we attach a lot of importance to the manner in which we win. I also want to thank Rabobank: they provided for the continuity and gave us the opportunity to find a new sponsor. Now we are really underway.”

Lars Boom:

“This last period had been tough because we did not know what would happen with the team. With Belkin on board, the uncertainty is gone. I am very pleased that we can continue. I’ve been racing for some time with these guys and I’d like continue to do that. Both on and off the bike, I can get along with this group very well.”

Stef Clement:

“I think the management has done an excellent job to find a new main sponsor in these economically challenging times. They have put a brave face forward in the past months and that has provided the calm needed to focus on the racing. I think that the match is good for both parties. That has to be, as sponsoring is not charity but we can continue our mission and expand the brand awareness of Belkin and make people aware of the quality products they offer.”

Robert Gesink:

“Being without a sponsor was naturally disconcerting but I haven’t had to lose a lot of sleep over it. I wanted to perform well in the Giro and then concern myself about the situation. Luckily, there were already positive signals shortly after the Giro. I am happy that there is now certainly. It’s good that this group can stay together thanks to Belkin. At home, I already have some of their product in use and that will undoubtedly grow”
