Stage 1 - Tour de San Luis 2013

As we wait for the first stage of Tour Down Under to begin today on the other side of the globe many other pro riders have started their season with Tour de San Luis. Tour de San Luis is a UCI 2.1 race part of the UCI America Tour. The race is held in the San Luis province of Argentina. The opening 164km stage of the 2013 edition of the race from San Luis to Villa Mercedes was won by Mark Cavendish in his debut for the Belgian team, Omega Pharma-Quick Step. Other notable names who have started their 2013 season in this race are Vincenzo Nibali (Astana), Alberto Contador (Saxo-Tinkoff), Peter Sagan (Cannondale), Thor Hushovd (BMC), and Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha)
