Greipel first strike

By Cor Vos on January 21, 2013

The 2013 Tour Down Under opened with the inaugural People's Classic criterium which once again was dominated by the strength of Lotto-Belisol team and saw André Greipel take victory for the third consecutive time. From the onset of the race, small breakaway group containing Zak Dempster (UniSA) and Jens Voigt (RadioShack Leopard) had formed. During the post race interviews, Michael Tomalaris asked Jens Voigt, "what he was doing in a long break for the first race of the year? ". In the typical comical Voigt response, "I had nothing better to do". The leading breakaway group was eventually caught as Lotto-Belisol and Argos-Shimano picked up the pace. Greg Henderson, Greipel's leadout man, tweeted that in the final few hundred meters he was leading out at 70.5km/hr and Greipel hit 73.8km/hr to take out the win. Tomorrow, stage 1 of the 2013 Tour Down Under starts in Prospect. Who do you think will win the first stage ?
