Now it's hit me. 40-49 Veteran. Thank you for all the 40th birthday wishes. Especially to my awesome wife who gave me this. (by other love) Keenan and McGrory might be getting old, but they still go alright. Brought out the @rapharacing @teamsky kit this morning. Got called a wanker a couple times but other than that I think I pulled it off. Step aside Froome and Wiggo...

January 16, 2013

Oprah is interviewed about her interview with Armstrong on CBS This Morning. "He did not come clean in the manner that I expected. It was surprising to me. I would say that for myself and all of us in the room we were mezmerised and rivited by his answers."

Well, she’s not likely to say “Nah, it was BORINGZ. He just stonewalled for two and a half hours. Don’t bother watching” was she? :) Keep winding up the hype to fever pitch.

Now the interview will be aired in two parts: Thursday, January 17, from 9 to 10:30 p.m. ET/PT (as previously announced) and Friday, January 18, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

      They’re really milking this…

i’ve just figured out one of the key things that bothers me about this whole saga. CBS guy says (11:45) ‘he seemed to be someone with remarkable athletic skills.. and then he.. has to acknowledge “i have no clothes”‘.

it’s the assumption that pro cyclists, representatives of a sport i love, are unremarkable athletes, in as much as they are just joy riding on drugs. i think most cycling fans would acknowledge that doping or not, armstrong and his fellow cheats (the ones who won at the top) were still elite athletes. but that’s not how much of the public now sees it – they just see cheats who took the lazy option – which blinds them to probably the most remarkable aspect of the sport, i.e. the pure dedication and sacrifice to build that form.

i’m not blaming the public for that, if anything it’s dopers who are to blame. but it annoys me.
