In an exclusive interview, Michele Ferrari tells Al Jazeera’s Lee Wellings he did not help Lance Armstrong dope. Ferrari was named 480 times in the USADA’sreport on the Armstrong case earlier this year, and was handed a lifetime ban.

Ferrari would have to be the absolute tops as a trainer, and I suppose the man at the leading edge probably was tops at developing doping practice as well. But if the cycling fairy offered me any trainer I liked to advise me I’d definitely choose him, and not for advice on doping. The demonizing of him is very schoolyard. He wasn’t Dracula, he gave the riders and teams what they wanted, I suppose. But not much of an interview really, just Ferrari protesting his innocence.

Having read nearly all of his website posts about training, I would have to agree that he would be a fantastic advisor….. As long as you had the moral backbone to not want to dope….
