Lest We Forget
By Wade Wallace on April 3, 2012
During World War I, bicycle-mounted infantry soldiers, scouts, messengers and ambulance carriers were extensively used by combatants to maneuver on and between battlefields . The term "safety bicycle" dates from the late 19th century, when they became popular in Europe, the United States and Australia. Historically, bicycles lessened the need for horses, fuel and vehicle maintenance. Take a moment to remember the members of our armed forces who have died in the line of duty and who are still serving us today.
