Luke Davison (Budget Forklifts) also resurrected his cycling career and took stages 1, 2, 4 and 9 and now sits as the NRS overall race leader knocking off Mark O’Brien. Also racing is 2007 national champion Darren Lapthorn and making a comeback is Kiwi vetren Gordon McCauley. There looks to be an excellent depth of talent in the NRS this year and there’s no shortage of numbers with over 160 starters.
National Criterium champion Anthony Giacoppo wore the leaders jersey from stages 3-7 but it was stage 8 where Will Walker put 55 seconds into him to secure the lead and held onto it through the final stage to take the overall.
