Good numbers back at Thursday night track with a host of strong riders and competitive racing. The Blackburn Cycling Club continue to set the standard with winning form in all 3 grades.
In A Grade, Tyler Spurrell continued a strong run of form with the jump on his rivals, most of whom are rediscovering the feel for their track machines after a 2 month DISC-induced layoff….but the challengers are looming! Cameron Parlevliet caused much laughter with his decision to kick off his night in B Grade – surely he wasn’t try to hustle a $10 payout??
In B Grade, evergreens masters Chris Halley and Paul Beasley figured in podium finishes, but it was Blackburn CC’s Ryan Schilt who set the track alight with a win and two second placings. Tom Slingsby, one of maestro Peter Wyke’s young charges, powered away to take the chocolates in the moto pace.
Southern Vet CC’s Mick Sewell took to the track in C Grade for his first ever hit out on a machine cobbled together the night before, but looked very much at home. Expect to see him in B Grade next week. Youngsters Madison Fitzgerald (Blackburn CC) and Lewis Slingsby (Preston CC) fought out the spoils with some good aggressive riding.
Thursday night track caters for all abilities and riders. Juniors, masters and women are especially welcome. Beginners will receive the guidance to build the confidence to get rolling and racing.
Typical race distance is 25 – 40 laps – good for honing race tactics; great for building endurance.
Upcoming events:
- 6 Day Event kicks off on 21 June
- Junior and senior omnium series coming later in 2012
