Now it's hit me. 40-49 Veteran. Thank you for all the 40th birthday wishes. Especially to my awesome wife who gave me this. (by other love) Keenan and McGrory might be getting old, but they still go alright. Brought out the @rapharacing @teamsky kit this morning. Got called a wanker a couple times but other than that I think I pulled it off. Step aside Froome and Wiggo...

Not Another Helmet Debate!

December 15, 2010

It's been far too long since I've posted anything on my Fairfax blog. This morning I got back at it and put something together that always attracts a lot of undue attention. The helmet debate.
I normally don't pay too much attention to these helmet debates. They're usually just a topic that mainstream media latches onto just like the "bike versus car" debate. However, my indifference to this changed a couple months ago with I received a text message from my friend's wife telling me he had been in an accident involving a car and he was in intensive care. He wasn't wearing a helmet. And you know what? This didn't occur down Beach Road in rush hour traffic or during the finish of a bunch sprint in a race. It was on the peaceful backroads of France where bicycling is supposed to be safe and carefree. It just goes to show that you never know when you could be unlucky and your life can take a drastically different direction.
I'm guessing that many people won't agree with me on my support for wearing a helmet, but in my experience I've seen too many knocks on the head to dismiss it as being a fluke occurrence.
Head on over to any of Fairfax's online publications and check it out: The Age, SHM, Brisbane Times, and WA Today.

    Again,
we are the ONLY country with MHL for all ages, why is this? Surely surely surely if it were so necessary it would be implemented globally. IT isn’t. WE are the laughing stock. WE are the backwards nation doing NOTHING (meaningful) to encourage the cheapest and easiest form of short distance transport. WE are the example of why MHLs should never be implemented. Is this a good thing? I think the answer is pretty obvious…
